Visitation will be on Monday, August 28, from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow on Monday, August 28, at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Jane was born on August 17, 1925 in Boone County, the daughter of Warren Fielding and Letha Lee (Sims) Graves who preceded her in death.She was married on Jan. 26, 1945 to Wendell E. Buckler who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2010.She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jane retired in 1992 from the University of Missouri as a secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Economics.Jane was an active member of the Gideons Auxillary while Wendell was living and was known for her hand crafted table decorations. Jane’s creativity extended beyond table decorations to all kinds of needlecraft and she was instrumental in organizing the Ugly Quilters at Calvary, who made quilts for homeless people at Harbor House. Her quick wit and generous and loving spirit was extended to all she met and she loved and was loved by many.Survivors include her two children, Becky Buckler of Columbia and Kevin Buckler (Margrace) of Columbia.She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Morgan Buckler; three brothers, an infant, John Haynes Graves, and Chester Graves.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.Online condolences may be made at www.memorialfuneralhomeandcemetery.com.

Coats, 90, Columbia, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at University Hospital in Columbia.Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 30 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial service will be on Thursday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Wesley Knight officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery and will be at a later date.Vera was born on June 4, 1927 in Boone County, the daughter of Reuben T. and Vera Mae (Bandy) Jacobs, both of whom preceded her in death.She was married on Sept. 11, 1948, at the Christian Church in Columbia, to Russell M. Coats who survives at the home.She was a 1945 graduate of Hickman High School, where she was a cheerleader.After graduation, she attended Christian College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in 1947. After raising two children, she went to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1967 and her Master’s in 1969. She worked for Christian College/Columbia College for many years, teaching in the department of Fashion and Textiles. She was instrumental in starting an annual fashion show, where the students were able to showcase their designs on the runway.Vera was a talented seamstress and avid quilter, a wonderful cook, and a good golfer. She enjoyed playing bridge. Vera was an awesome person, was loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Besides her husband of almost 68 years, she is survived by two sons, Russell L. Coats (Melanie) of Lake Ozark, and Larry J. Coats (Paula) of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Cortney Teague (Matt) of Webster Groves, Greg Coats (Diana) of Columbia, and James Coats (Layla) of Springfield, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Bandy Jacobs of Columbia; sister-in-law, Deanna Jacobs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Craig Bandy Coats in 1957; and six brothers and sisters.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet Christian Church, 1991 S.
